With over 70 years of combined experience\, our instructors bring extensive knowledge in horseshoeing\, training\, breeding\, and coaching—providing students with an unmatched learning environment rooted in real‑world expertise. \n\n\n\nCourse Overview\n\n\n\nThis intensive 6‑week program meets 40 hours per week and equips students with the hands‑on skills\, professional tools\, and practical training needed to begin working immediately upon completion. Participants will explore metal selection\, blade functionality\, and various design styles. Key techniques such as hammer forging\, annealing\, heat treating\, grinding\, and tempering will be taught in detail. \n\n\n\nStudents will create semi-finished blades and evaluate them for cutting performance\, edge retention\, hardness\, and flexibility. The course covers all essential stages of knifemaking\, including forging\, grinding\, heat‑treating\, tool use\, safety\, material selection\, and the fundamentals of kitchen knife design. \n\n\n\nParticipants will work with high‑carbon steel and complete their knife with a hardwood handle. By the end of the workshop\, students should expect to finish one 6–8 inch chef knife. Basic bladesmithing experience is helpful but not required.
