UKE 101-FROM ZERO TO HERO

This class, adapted from Bogart and Peters’ 21 Songs in 6 Days: Learn Ukulele the Easy Way, will take novice students through the history and anatomy of the ukulele and includes how to buy a uke, holding, strumming, tuning, singing along, and chords C, Am, F, G7, C7. You will have all the tools to play dozens of songs after this 3-hour course offered over two weeks! Playing the ukulele is easy, fun, and addictive! This class is appropriate for age levels 10-100 and is guaranteed to make you smile! You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a ukulele. That’s pretty close!  A binder with PowerPoint slides, handouts, and our songbook, as well as snacks are included. Just bring yourself, your uke, and your tuner. If you need any advice on purchasing a ukulele before class, email catherine.howard@texarkanacollege.edu.

This class is for ages 10 & Up,Just bring yourself, your uke, and your tuner. Class will meet Tuesday evenings September 3rd and 10th in the Biology Building -Deans Office.

Quickbooks Online-In the classroom

.In this class, students will learn to create a company, configure and optimize for best results, vendors, customers, invoices, payments, make bank deposits, reconcile bank accounts,  create reports to manage tasks, and prepare closing entries for the month end and year end.  Supplemented by handouts and hands on computer training.  We will cover an accounting cycle for a month and perform year end closing procedures.  We will learn to display report results for printing or exporting or emailing.  We will also review the end result of the accounting transactions we have posted and how the financial statements are impacted.  AND you will learn how to correctly manage the bank feed!  Oh My Gosh!  Gamechanger! We will also go over all the new features and enhancements that make a great QBO even more powerful! If you are converting from desktop, we can help with that also – make that transition smooth as glass!

Greek Baklava

Join Chefs Tyler and Donna Standridge in learning the basics of baklava from many countries and dive in to make your very own Green Baklava! Baklava is a sweet dessert made of layers of flaky phyllo pastry filled with crushed nuts, spices, and sweetened with honey syrup. Nuts used will be pistachio and walnut. Students will work in teams of two.
