Basic Sewing

Class meets on Tuesday nights for 5 weeks!

Learn the fundamentals of sewing! Using your personal sewing machine, learn basic sewing skills and machine maintenance. Bring a portable sewing machine, scissors, thread, a small remnant of test fabric, paper and pencil to the first session. The first night you will learn basics of your machine, choose from a list of recommended patterns, and learn how to gather the supplies needed for your project before your second class.

Class is held in the Truman Arnold Student Center in the Upstairs Room A.

Let’s Talk About Kids: Parent Education Seminar For Divorcing Couples

Let’s Talk About Kids is being conducted to provide information to families and children who are affected by divorce. The seminar is open to all persons concerned with family separation. Attendance is mandated for divorcing parents by the Bowie County District Courts. **Please do not bring your children to class**

Seminar Goals

Discussion of expected behavioral changes in children.
Exploration of how losses connected to divorce affect families and children.
Review of alternatives to “Children in the Middle”
Presentation tools and solutions.

UKE 101-FROM ZERO TO HERO

This class, adapted from Bogart and Peters’ 21 Songs in 6 Days: Learn Ukulele the Easy Way, will take novice students through the history and anatomy of the ukulele and includes how to buy a uke, holding, strumming, tuning, singing along, and chords C, Am, F, G7, C7. You will have all the tools to play dozens of songs after this 4 hour, one-day, session! You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a ukulele and that’s pretty close. This class is for ages 10 and up. Lunch is provided. Just bring yourself, your uke, and a tuner. If you have any questions email Catherine.howard@texarkanacollege.edu.
