Pharmacy Technician with Clinical Externship

Pharmacy Technician with Clinical Externship

This comprehensive 96-hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in retail or other pharmacy settings and to take the ExCPT through National Healthcareers Association.

Through classroom lecture and hands-on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement.

For students who may have a criminal background, please be advised that the background could keep you from being licensed by the State of Texas. If you have a question about your background and licensure, please check with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board by accessing their website at https://ptcb.zendesk.com and submit a request on your topic of study to determine if you are qualified to obtain a certificate in that field.  You also have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the applicable licensing agency.
