Self Defense and Martial Arts – Beginner to Advanced

This class is for ages 13 & up
Kajukenbo is a complete, no-nonsense self-defense system utilizing the most applicable techniques of Tang Soo Do, Judo, Jujitsu, Kempo and Kungfu. You will receive disciplined, focused, real-world training from instructors with a combined 50 plus years in Martial Arts. The physical benefits of our class are profound; as students learn martial arts they will also improve cardio, strength, and flexibility. Confidence in one’s self and abilities are gained through training. We also have leadership with additional black belts and instructors in Boxing, Kickboxing, Taekwondo, Shaolin Kenpo, & Sil Lum Kung Fu to add additional depth to your training.

Kempo Kids

This class is for students ages 5-12.

Class meets Tuesdays & Thursdays for 4 weeks.

Kempo kids uses innovative, age-level-appropriate methods and just the right amount of fun to teach our young students life and physical skills that will benefit them now and as they grow into adults.

This program develops the essential physical skills for self-defense like coordination, speed, power, flexibility, timing, balance, and endurance through the practice of forms, self-defense techniques, ground fighting, basic blocking, kicking, striking drills, and sparring, while enhancing their confidence, increasing their independence and offering them healthy, balanced solutions to conflict, bullying, peer pressure, strangers and negative environmental influences.

Our kid’s martial arts program is the perfect companion to help you raise strong, confident leaders, teaching confidence, focus & self-defense skills. Equip them with the tools to succeed in the real world with Kempo Karate. We play and have fun while still applying limits and boundaries of good behavior. Kids are taught to be accountable for their actions while getting the structure they crave in an environment that’s supportive, educational, and fun.

Oil Painting

This course is designed for students who have had any type of experience or no experience with oil painting. Students will learn various paint application techniques and color mixing theories to provide a strong foundation for creating quality works of art. This course offers instruction in a variety of genres including landscapes, portraits, and still life. In addition, class exercises encourage students to confidently experiment to find their own direction and style.

THERE IS A SUPPLY LIST FOR THIS CLASS. OIL PAINTING KITS MAY BE PURCHASED IN THE TC BOOKSTORE.

Winter Mixed Pickleball League

January 6 @ 5:45 pm February 10 @ 8:15 pm

Each ticket represents a team!   Each team will be comprised of 2 men and 2 women.  Please only sign up once you have your complete team in place.

This league will run for 4 weeks.   We have reserved 6 weeks in case of any weather related closures.

Throughout each league night, teams will play in a round robin format.   There will be 3 matches.  Each match will consist of 4 games or quarters–Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and 2 Mixed Doubles games.  Each game will be played for 15 minutes with no scoring limit.  The score of the 4 games will be totaled to determine the winner of the match.

In order for every player to be able to play, attendance is required.  If you know you will have to miss a night, it is your responsibility to find a substitute, and let your team captain know.

Prizes will be awarded for the first place and the second place team.  Also, individual prizes will be given for Men’s MVP and Women’s MVP, best defensive player, and best sportsmanship.    The individual prizes will be voted on by the league.

This league will be highly competitive.  Keep that in mind when registering.

Basic Sewing

Class meets every Thursday for 6 weeks

Learn the fundamentals of sewing! Using your personal sewing machine, learn basic sewing skills and machine maintenance. Bring a portable sewing machine, scissors, thread, a small remnant of test fabric, paper and pencil to the first session. The first night you will learn basics of your machine, choose from a list of recommended patterns, and learn how to gather the supplies needed for your project before your second class.

Uke 101: From Zero to Hero Beginning Uke

Uke 101: From Zero to Hero. This class, adapted from Bogart and Peters’ 21 Songs in 6 Days: Learn Ukulele the Easy Way, will take novice students through the history and anatomy of the Ukulele and includes how to buy a uke, holding, strumming, tuning, singing along, chords C, Am, F,G7, C7. You will have all the tools to play dozens of songs after this 2.5 hour session! Playing the ukulele is easy, fun, and addictive! This class is appropriate for age levels 10-100 and is guaranteed to make you smile! You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a ukulele. That’s pretty close! A binder with PowerPoint slides, handouts, and our songbook, as well as snacks and a light lunch, are included. Just bring yourself, your uke, and your tuner. Uke 106: Uke Song Series Love Songs

Uke 106: Uke Song Series: Love Songs. What would make a better Valentine’s gift for your sweetie or yourself than a beautiful love song or two played on your ukulele? If you are 10 or older and have completed UKE 101 (or have a good working knowledge of several chords), put your skills to work learning 10 classic love songs in this one-hour class. Just bring yourself, your uke, and a tuner. Copies of PowerPoint slides, our class songbook, and other handouts will be provide to add to your binders, and as always—SNACKS! Life may be like a box of chocolates, but life with a ukulele is like the biggest Whitman’s Sampler you can imagine.
